Secure Plan B While Keeping Your Family Safe

A short-time ago, we could not have foreseen the COVID-19 virus and the severe and sustained spread across the whole world. The tragic loss of life and abrupt economic disruption will surely cause lasting changes and will be felt for a very long time across all regions. And the responsiveness and adaptability will determine which countries perform best through this period.

As economies face protracted downturns, there has been a renewed focus on growing inequality in wealth, poor labor conditions and access to health care. There will be a predicted increase in political instability, including riots and general strikes that are to be expected to continue until next year. Some nations will also find it more difficult to repay existing debt leading to a further rise in poverty and unemployment.

Peace now has never been a more endangered and precious commodity.

POSITIVE PEACE

Positive Peace is defined as the attitudes, institutions and structures that create and sustain peaceful societies. These same factors also lead to many other desirable socio-economic outcomes. Higher levels of Positive Peace are statistically linked to greater income growth, better environmental outcomes, higher level of well-being and better developmental outcomes of the countries.

Countries with strong Positive Peace have higher resilience to absorb, adapt and recover from shocks, such as COVID-19 and the ensuing recession.

According to the 2020 Global Peace Index, these are the top 10 countries compiled by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) out of 163 nations. This ranking is based on 23 indicators grouped into three criteria (society, safety and security; extent of ongoing domestic and international conflict; and degree of militarization).

Holding on to the #6 in the index is Canada, the sixth safest out of 163 nations, a title it held over the past two years. It is constantly getting good marks due to the factors related to internal conflicts, levels of crime and political stability. Add to the mix excellent job opportunities, good health facilities and the effective governance and you will have one of the best country to immigrate in.
