So, if you are among those, who are looking to move to this fantastic country through various programs, Vazir Group has great news. Probably you have done your research or even applied to the programs, like Express Entry Program that allows you to get Canadian Permanent Residency but faced with issues like lacking points in the CRS or the program you wanted to apply to is closed as all the seats were covered? Keep calm as we have solutions for you.

The PNP or Provincial Nominee Program allows all Canada’s provinces and territories to nominate skilled worker candidates with specific skills needed for that particular area to apply for Canadian Permanent Residency. The program is gaining popularity and between 2021 and 2023 approximately 250,000 people are expected to receive Canadian Permanent Residency through PNP.

Each province and territory set up its criteria for PNP. For example, one province might need nominees with French-language proficiency, the second province might be looking for a particular occupation or skill, the third one is more interested in the educational background, and so on. Everything depends on the needs of each specific area. So, if you meet the criteria, you have a range of PNP’s multiple sub-programs and streams you can apply to.

Unlike Express Entry Program, the PNP is a two-part process where the federal government is the one who has the final decision on whether you are eligible to receive Canadian Permanent Residency or not.

To apply to the PNP you should follow easy 4 steps:

  1. Check your eligibility for the selected options.
  2. Complete a Provincial Nominee Program application and submit it to the province or territory.
  3. Receive an official Provincial Nomination certificate.
  4. Submit your permanent residence application to the federal government. Here, it’s important to remember about 2 options:
    1. If you were nominated through an Express Entry-aligned PNP, you can apply through Express Entry.
    2. In another case, you should submit a paper-based application.

With more than 70 PNP streams they work on a different basis. Some are first-come, first-served, while others either require potential applicants to first register an Expression of Interest, or they are passive.

The first-come, first-served option works until the required quota of nominees is met. This is the fastest stream and once filled, it is closed, so you should constantly monitor the situation not to miss an opportunity.

Expression of Interest is the method specially created for provinces that incorporate points systems. To some extend it looks like the Express Entry program but has its own points system that is different from CRS.

Passive streams mean that applicants who are mostly Express Entry candidates cannot actively apply or declare their interest in being considered for a nomination through these streams. In this case, they are contacted directly by the province with an invitation to apply. An example of such streams is Ontario’s Express Entry-linked programs that include Human Capital PrioritiesFrench-Speaking Skilled Worker, and Skilled Trades.

However, if you are not sure that you are eligible for the program, need professional advice, or just looking for assistance, don’t hesitate to contact Vazir Group, as our dedicated specialists always keep track of the latest steams and can solve any issue you might have.

Before we dive deep into the program itself, we should explain a little bit about the Comprehensive Ranking System, or in short, the CRS. It is a point system criterion that is used in the Express Entry Program to score skilled worker program participants. Those who get the higher results will receive an invitation to submit a full application and process the payment.

The maximum of 1,200 points for the program are given based on:

  1. Human Capital factors include age, level of education, language ability, and Canadian work experience.
  2. Spouse factor means that if you are a single applicant, you can get up to 500 points for the core human capital factor, however, if you are applying with a spouse maximum of 460 points go for core human capital factors of the main applicant and up to 40 points for the spouse, so if something is missing from your part can be gained from the spouse part.
  3. Skill transferability factor, like language level with a maximum of 100 points.
  4. Additional factors such as provincial nomination, Canadian study experience, a valid job offer, a sibling/family member in Canada, and the French language ability) will give you extra 600 points, making in total 1,200 points.

So, what to do if you are lacking some points and your score is not as high as it's required? The answer is Vazir's Group Boosting Points Program that allows every candidate to improve chances of receiving a Canadian permanent residency. “How does it work?” you might ask.

First of all, to be eligible for the program you should:

  1. Receive a minimum of 428+ points in the CRS score.
  2. Have at least a bachelor’s degree.
  3. Pass the IELTS with a score of 7 or more.

Did you meet these criteria? Then feel free to contact Vazir Group and our specialists will help not only you, as the main applicant, but also your spouse to increase the score and the chances to become a Canadian permanent resident through a Skilled Worker Program.

When we spoke about Express Entry Program, we mentioned that additional factors can grant you extra 600 points in the CRS. As most provinces and territories have streams that relate to the Express Entry selection system, PNP is the single most valuable factor in the CRS that effectively guarantees that the candidate receives an ITA at the following draw from the pool.

Those who wish to apply for a PNP must first create an Express Entry profile and enter the pool. The processing time for Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs depends on whether the application has been submitted under an Express Entry-linked PNP stream, or one of the other streams that are not linked with Express Entry. What does it mean?

To speed up the process, many provinces have brought their processing times down to a few months, or even weeks. For Express Entry-linked applications, the federal processing time for most applications remains six months, which is also fast compared to many other programs. However, for non-Express Entry linked applications, it might take between 1 to 2 years to process at the federal stage.
